A blade forged of some unknown dark metal, the hilt decorated with the face of a goat-headed demom, the sword is an ancient weapon, all that remains of the demon lord of weaponry: Thamuz. The sword functions as a +4 keen vorpal vicious wounding bastard sword and the wielder is under the constant effects of a deathwatch spell. A non-Chaotic Evil character that holds the sword suffers the effects of two negative levels; the negative levels are lost the moment she no longer possesses the sword.

In addition to the above, the sword of Thamuz retains a portion of the demon whose power and intuition invented weapons at the dawn of the universe. Thamuz himself has long since vanished, having been absorbed by some nameless rival, yet his essence lives on in the sword of Thamuz. Thamuz seeks to reclaim his lost power, guiding his wielder toward the Abyss and the ever-raging wars there.

The sword seeks to destroy itself, which can only happen in the Abyss: When the wielder delivers a killing blow with the sword, and is in turn killed with the dying creature's final breath, the essense of Thamuz trapped within the sword will be released, absorbing the energies of the two dying combatants from whose flesh will be sewn the new body of Thamuz.

Any creature killed by the destruction of the sword cannont be brought back to life with any spell of less power than miracle or wish.
